Women's football in South Korea

Women's football has been played in South Korea for over seventy years, though its development was impeded by the Korean War and subsequently by opposition from some football authorities who viewed the sport as unsuitable for women. Although not as developed as the men's game in the country, a number of senior and youth teams have emerged since the 1990s.
