Women's suffrage in Vermont

Women's suffrage efforts in Vermont began in the 1850s with agitation from early suffragist, Clarina I. H. Nichols. By the 1870s the American Woman Suffrage Association (AWSA) looked to independent-minded Vermonters to support women's suffrage.
