Wong Wing v. United States

Wong Wing v. United States, 163 U.S. 228 (1896), was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court found that the Fifth and Sixth Amendments require a trial whenever a statute imposes a punishment of imprisonment at hard labor on an alien.
