Wood–Anderson seismometer

The Wood–Anderson seismometer (also known as the Wood–Anderson seismograph) is a torsion seismometer developed in the United States by Harry O. Wood and John August Anderson in the 1920s to record local earthquakes in southern California. It photographically records the horizontal motion.
