Xnipec (Mayan pronunciation: [ʃni'pek]; meaning 'dog snout') is a spicy sauce native to the Yucatán peninsula, made with habanero pepper, purple onion, bitter orange juice and salt. Sometimes oregano, vinegar, bay leaf, coriander or pepper are also used.
