Zuṭṭ is an Arabicised form of Jat. Originally inhabitants of lower Indus Valley, Jats were present in Mesopotamia from the 5th century CE since the times of the Sasanian Empire, although their main migration occurred after the establishment of Umayyad Caliphate.
